Did you know that?

  • Although Greenland is the world's largest island in terms of area, it has the lowest population density of any inhabited country or dependency with an average of 0.06 people per square mile (0.02 people per square kilometer)!
  • The world's most populous island, Java has 135 million people, more then the country of Mexico!
  • Millenium Island, an island in the country of Kiribati (Kee-ree-buhss) is the first land in the world  to experience midnight and thus, the first land to experience a new day.
  • The world's largest uninhabited island in terms of area is Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago
